Carlos Conca’s research focuses on the mathematical analysis of systems modeled by partial differential equations (PDEs), originating in the natural sciences and engineering. His work combines theoretical rigor with practical relevance, ranging from fluid mechanics to the modeling of the human sense of smell.

His most recognized contribution is the development of the Bloch Method in homogenization theory, a dual Fourier-type approach for studying elliptic operators with highly oscillating coefficients. This method is now a standard tool in the field.
