Teaching & Training
Carlos Conca has mentored 16 doctoral and master’s students who now hold academic positions in eight countries. His teaching goes beyond the mere transmission of knowledge: he has been a pioneer in the creation of postgraduate programs in applied mathematics in Chile, transforming the training of researchers in the country.
His philosophy is clear: to train researchers capable of contributing both to the cutting edge of knowledge and to the scientific development of their communities.
Under Professor Conca's guidance, 16 mathematicians earned their doctorates between 1984 and 2025; he has also supervised 27 engineering and master's theses. They currently hold positions in:

MECESUP Project – Integrated General Education (2004-2010)
As principal investigator, designed and implemented a higher education platform that enabled integrated general education for undergraduate students. Today, the University of Chile offers approximately 100 semester-long courses on various topics of general interest.
